What a floor coating costs.

Why two quotes for the same floor can be far apart, and how to compare them fairly.

Concrete slab prepared for coating

Preparation is the biggest variable

A clean, sound slab needs only grinding. A floor with old coatings, oil, cracks and broken joints needs much more. Cheap quotes often skip preparation, and that is why coatings peel.

The system and its thickness

A dust-proofing seal, a thin-film coating, a self-levelling epoxy and a 6 mm PU screed are very different amounts of material and labour. Check that quotes compare the same system and thickness.

Area and access

Larger areas usually cost less per square metre. Racking, machinery, stairs, night or weekend work and phased areas add time.

Downtime and cure

Fast-curing systems such as MMA cost more in material but can save days of lost operation. Weigh both.

How to compare quotes

Ask each contractor to state the preparation, the repairs, the system, the thickness, the finish and what the warranty covers. Chemsafe sends a written quote after a site visit, and prices are confirmed on final measurements.

Questions

Good to know.

Can you give a price per m² over the phone?

Not reliably. The condition of the concrete changes the price more than anything else, so we visit and quote in writing.

Is the site visit free?

Ask us when you book. Send the basics through the form or on WhatsApp first.
