The short answer
For a home garage we use UV-stable polyurethane. It holds its colour in sunlight. Epoxy can lose its colour, so it is used only as a primer, where a primer is needed.
Why sunlight matters in a garage
Garage doors stand open, and sunlight reaches the floor every day. A coating that is not UV-stable fades or changes colour where the light falls, and the floor ends up patchy.
Preparation comes first
Oil, tyre marks, old paint and the weak top skin of the concrete are ground off, and cracks are filled, so the new coating bonds to sound concrete.
How the system is built
| Step | What it does |
|---|---|
| Surface prep | Diamond grinding opens the concrete and removes oil, old paint and laitance. Cracks are filled. |
| Primer, where needed | An epoxy primer seals the concrete where the slab needs it. |
| UV-stable polyurethane | The top layer: holds its colour and is easy to keep clean. |
What to expect
We visit, look at the slab and send a written quote. Prices are confirmed on final measurements.
